Why
a Conference for Men?
If we’re really honest with ourselves most men today are struggling to
understand their various roles. So many
demands are placed on us:
The need to provide for
our family;
Ensuring that we succeed
in our chosen profession and career;
To act as a role model
for our children;
The development of
relationships with family, friends, colleagues, neighbours and especially with
our wives.
The
list is seemingly endless and then there’s church and our relationship with God
and, yes, how we witness to the world when we really feel that we’d just like
to cope with a few things at a time and not take on so many different roles. A
lot of expectation is placed on the shoulders of most men.
Are we equipped for the role?
Most
men, if we are honest with our selves, have developed a strategy for coping
with the many and varied demands of the age in which we live. One adaptation
that appears as a very attractive coping strategy is we harden our hearts. We
cope better, but everyone we know and love looses out! Including
the Lord. What is the answer? If this is striking any chords with you,
this Day Conference is just for you.
Another
area we may look at is our relationship with our wives and partners. So often
not an easy road in modern times! We will look at ‘needs’ of loved ones for
masculine affection, and value in the eyes of a father, and why so many
relationships fail. Have we moved away from God’s ordained role? Adventurer? Defender? Rescuer? Lover? Warrior,
or wimp?

Our
Speaker for the day.
Steve Uppal the leader of All Nations Church
Wolverhampton and author of “Rousing the Warriors”.
Steve Uppal was
born in Wolverhampton in 1974. At the age of five he gave his life to the Lord.
It was prophesied that he would travel the world preaching and at thirteen he
committed to a wholehearted Christian walk, challenging his friends to examine
their lives and to commit totally to the Lord.
They started to
get together to pray and to read the Bible. By 1988 the group, led by Steve,
began to feel challenged to take the “un-compromised gospel” to others. They
called themselves “Christian Warriors.” They began to plan their evangelistic
activities at weekends and at school holidays and were soon visiting churches
and youth events up and down the country.
Through the late
1990’s, Steve’s work with the Warriors grew to encompass a number of different
activities. As well as becoming involved in local church leadership and youth
networking, Steve founded a training school as a pilot programme for one year.
In 1999, he began working on a part-time basis for CfAN
as an events organiser - work which took him to Africa, to experience first-hand
the impact of mass crusades.
In November
2000 he began work as Associate Minister of All Nations Christian Centre in Wolverhampton, England, and in May 2001 he was
asked to take on the role of Pastor.
At All Nations he has brought a new vision to the church
based on a “militant” Christianity that wants to see the Kingdom of God forcefully
advanced across all nations. The “three pillars” of the church are now overseas
missions, actively engaging with all levels of the community through social
action, and the training and development of disciples. In 2004 the church is
planning overseas missions, a programme of three inspirational conferences, and
the launch of an International Bible College in the autumn.
