Episode:- A Youth Mega Event in Bridgnorth Castle Hall. Wed 27th Nov 7:30 – 9:30 12 to 16 year olds.

I understand that the villagers of Stottesdon, (our neighbouring village,) are planning a bonfire on Saturday 2nd of November. Do go if you can. I’m sure it will be a great event and the funds raised are going to good causes.

We want to support their event and other local activities that increase our working together as neighbouring communities, and as a single parish.

There will also be a smaller family bonfire in Chorley on the evening of the 5th November.

In conversation with local people this week, it seems that many of the Chorley folk will actively support the Stottesdon event as well as come to a local event in Chorley. So we will be going ahead with our plans as well. Mr Arthur Cook offered the use of the field with an entrance next to the Willowdene Farm gate. The Duck Inn organise a raffle to fund raise on the 15th of October. They have made a generous donation towards the cost of the fireworks. Thanks to all who contributed. We need to be very sure we can clear the field after the event of all nails, sparkler wires and other items, as this field is used by horses and other live stock. If you’d like to help, we would suggest gathering all the fuel together on Friday PM 1st November and Saturday 2nd AM at a place market out in the field. Building the fire will be on Saturday afternoon between 1:30 and 3PM. We will need a Guy! Any volunteers? We have bought a professional firework display with the fund raised by the Duck and the chapel folk. We will provide hot food, hot sausages, hot soup, hot drinks!

Make sure your pets and live stock are safe and secure. Please also let any elderly folk know about the event so they will not be surprised when the fireworks start. Thanks to all for the encouragement and help.

If you would like to help clear up, build the bonfire, organise food, please contact us by phone 01746 762365 or e-mail ASAP info@Chorley-Chapel.org.uk . Bonfire Night Leaflet A5

What a night. warm, dry, pleasant evening it was! Could this be November the 5th ? Outrageous favour! That’s what we enjoyed. We brought food for 100 and it all went. We set off over 70 fireworks without accident except for one slightly singed thumb! The rain soaked fire lit with one match! Talk about the prophets of Baal! Wow!

It was a wonderful evening of friendship and fun, for children (of all ages) and parents alike.  Five children added to our evening by making a Guy Fawks. We give special thanks to Chelsey and James of Chorley and Ben, Edward and Greg from Kinlet.  Many requests to do it again next year. Thanks to everyone for supporting the evening and all those animal and pet owners for their care, and patience with us.

There is a sponsored talk on gardening at the village hall on Friday evening at 7:30. You need to book as there is a light snack and a glass of wine. Proceeds are to help raise the remainder of the money for the refurbished bells at Stottesdon Parish Church.

Dale Plant will be speaking at Chorley on Sunday 24th of November. Dale is a passionate man about what God is doing in this area. He has been visiting us regularly for about 4 years. He has spoken in many of the villages around Bridgnorth, and is a strong supporter of the Lifting Jesus Higher initiative. Our meeting will follow the usual form of an informal get together for tea and cakes at around 5:30. The main meeting starting at 6:30. Worship will be lead by Alan Muscat. If you’re local to Chorley near Bridgnorth, I would encourage  you to come if you can make it. Dale is challenging, exciting to listen to, and he is uncompromising with the truth!
