What are the beliefs of
those who meet in Chorley?
Here at Chorley Chapel
we believe in the reality that Jesus is alive, now and for evermore,
and that He is at work in us today, to bring us into the fullness
of ALL He has promised, including bringing us fully into an awareness
and experience of the Love of His Father.
We could set down a creed here or some other form of statement of belief as a principle. We have elected to put down more of an explanation of what we have each discovered to be True. We are all very different people. We have all travelled a different path through our lives. We have come together under a unifying belief in Jesus as our personal saviour. That he died on the cross for each one of us: which includes you. That he paid the price needed to restore right relationship with our Father God in Heaven.
The Power of Love
We believe that in each of our lives we have witnessed the power of the transforming Love of Jesus Christ. That through His Love for us, we have been, and are being changed. That our belief is not blind Faith. Nor is it a dependence on a ‘religious’ set of beliefs. After all, Jesus himself had a hard time with the ‘religious’ of his day. We believe that our Love of Jesus and His Love for us is real, living, personal and totally rooted in His and His Father’s desire to have a real and living relationship with each one of us, now as well as forever more. Just like the perfect Father (Abba, the Hebrew word for Dad) and his children.
In short; He Loves us, me and you with a passion so great, that “He sent His One and only Son, that whoever believes in Him should have eternal Life.”
(The Bible, New Testament, Gospel of John Chapter 3 v 16.)
Jesus is the Bridegroom
Our experience has proved to each one of us, that He is alive and His love for us is both real and deep. So much so, that the method the Bible uses to try to help us understand this Love, is to describe it to us like the Love of a Bridegroom for His adored and most wanted Bride!
Jesus is the Bridegroom, and you, if you’re willing, can be part of the Bride! I’m sure you’re aware that when you get married to the eldest son, you become a member of his father’s family, and an heir of all he possesses. If these words ring bells with you, it’s because that’s the message of the Bible.
He ‘wants’ you and me for His Bride. He loves you and me so much, no price was too high to pay to ensure you and I could, if we choose, become his bride, and live with Him and His Father forever.
The choice is ours
He said he had come not for a few, but His desire was that no man or woman should be lost to Him. Whoever you are, whatever you’ve done, whatever you believe or don’t believe, Jesus loves you and wants you for His very own. The rest is up to you!
He does not want a pressed people, driven into His arms by fear or threat, he wants a people who ‘choose’ Him, as He chose you, before the creation of the world! You have always been on His mind and in His heart. Is he in your thoughts? If not the reality is, He wants you back! There is nothing in the way from His point of view. All you need to do is, like a bride to be, when her suitor ‘pops’ the question, surrender in love, and say yes. If you Love me you will keep my commands He said. Love is the key! Love and understanding needs to come, the obedience will follow.
He Loves you! Let it into your heart. He Loves YOU!
Eternity in our hearts
Have you let yourself consider if you might Love Him? The Bible says God sowed eternity in the hearts of men (and women). Is there a God-shaped hole at the heart of your life? Jesus said to a woman in the Bible, “If you drink of me, you will NEVER be thirsty again!” or words to that effect. If you want to understand this better, have a look in the Bible, John’s Gospel Chapter 4 for example, or Revelation 22, you’ll see what we are saying is true.
If you want to know more about this Jesus and His Love, come and meet with us on a Sunday, or Tuesday evening. Call us by Phone. e-Mail one of us with your questions.
Don’t let the Love of your Life just pass you by!
There was a blind man by the road side who heard a commotion as Jesus passed him by. He yelled out, “Jesus, Son of David!” The disciples said, “Don’t bother the master”. Jesus stopped, asked that he be brought to him, and asked him, “What do you want me to do for you?” A few moments later, Jesus restored this blind man’s sight!
What would you do if Jesus came down your way? What would you answer if he said, “What do you want me, to do for you?”
He can do” immeasurably more than you could ever hope or imagine!” Even today!
