A number of exciting things have been going on in connection with the Chapel and here are just two stories that we have time to tell you. Be blessed by them and give God the glory.

Clive at a Chapel BBQ

Clive was an unbeliever who came along to the Chorley Chapel Welcome BBQ at the end of May. He was walking with the aid of a walking frame; his arm was in a sling. It was discovered by a chapel member that his condition was due to advanced bone cancer. The chapel member asked Clive if he would like to be prayed for and Clive, surprisingly, agreed. (Praise God!) So we prayed for him. But God led us not to pray directly for the healing of the bone cancer, but to pray that Clive would receive a revelation of God's love for him. For 10 or so minutes we prayed and wept as the Spirit of God touched Clive's heart.

A few days later Clive was asked how he was. Clive proudly showed that he could raise his arm above his head, where previously he could barely move it an inch without pain. "To God Be The Glory". What will the future hold for Clive's condition... We'll keep you posted.

Well all that was some years ago! Clive still has bone cancer but has enjoyed some amazing relief and blessing. I heard last week Jan 07 that he was still doing well and in touch, as far as we know he is still an unbeliever! Watch this space.

We're called to be witnesses

Sometimes it is said that our families and nearest and dearest are the most difficult people to witness the Good News to. Witnessing is not something we should ‘do’ as a conscious activity; it is something we should 'be', as the scripture says: 'for you will "be" my witnesses'. Here at Chorley we ran an Alpha Course during the autumn of 2003. During the Alpha Weekend a couple called Sue and Pip gave their lives to the Lord Jesus. At their baptism in June their son Mark asked if he could be baptised there and then! And so he was. "To God Be The Glory"

A month later at a conference at All Nations Church in Wolverhampton, Mark’s partner Trudy asked me if she could be baptised, so at the end of February she was. So what caused them to move from unbelief (or uncertain belief) to becoming Born Again Christians? It was the witness of the changed lives of Mark's mum and dad that had caught their attention. Trudy and Mark were married at the Chapel in 2006 and now host a Alpha course on the Scotlands in Wolverhampton with his brother Simon and his partner Sheila.

Pip and Sue's other son, Simon, was still very unsure in his rejection of the Christian message, but was aware that it had had a major impact on his mum and dad's life.

On Sunday 20th June, the whole family went to hear the comedian, Bobby Ball, speak at Bewdley High School. What a night! We thank God for the way he is using Bobby mightily. Both Simon and his partner gave their lives to the Lord that night. Since then they to are involved in Alpha, and working out there salvation. They have both expressed a desire to be baptised. To God be the Glory.

The next generation of Pip and Sue’s grandchildren are already loving their new ‘Church’ friends, and their knowledge of the Love of the Lord Jesus for them and the growing evidence of it in their lives is already producing spiritual fruit. "By their fruit you will know them."

Pip and Sue are now running an Alpha course in their new home in Wednesfield and several of that group are seeking baptism as well in early 2007.
